The iconic Nike collaboration has finally hit the shelves

Earlier this year, Hackney Wick FC – the community club which continues to break boundaries and strip away stigmas – announced a special partnership with Nike that would see the sportswear giant kit out Hackney Wick for the 2019/20 season. The home and away jerseys made an instant impact, built up a big waiting list, and gave the East London club the attention it so deserves.

When we spoke to Hackney Wick FC founder Bobby Kasanga earlier this month as part of the Nike Merlin ‘The Ball Means More’ campaign, it was clear what impact the kit has had on him personally and on the wider community. “I am still in awe of the kits,” he explained. “Like I created a club which has collaborated with the biggest sports brand in the world. It’s so recognisable. Everywhere I go people say you’re the HWFC guy. I love your work. I love the shirts. That always means a lot. I am the self proclaimed Peckham Zidane so when I put the shirt on I must always make sure I live up to the name.”

Designed in collaboration with Nike’s Nigeria Football shirt designer Peter Hoppins, the club’s jerseys were created to be London’s own version of Nike’s Naija kits. Every doodle on the shirts were created by local schoolchildren, whose identity has been weaved into the kits with an aim of empowering a new generation of young Londoners.

The best bit? You can now cop your very own Hackney Wick FC jersey by heading to But, be quick, they probably won’t be around for long.
