GAFFER x Chivas Regal Gameday
The GAFFER x Chivas Gameday ignites the goals and ambitions of a cast of UK cultural tastemakers by elevating modern football communities beyond the pitch. Club players, community changemakers and leading creative talent including Krept & Konan, Harry Pinero, Elz the Witch, Headie One, Aitch, Jay1, Chunkz, Yung Filly, Sharky and more all took part in the exhibition match at Old Trafford, with a total of £5,000 donated to support a charity of each team’s choosing.
Play Dirty FC, captained by Krept & Konan, faced off against Hackney Wick FC All-Stars led by Harry Pinero and Elz the Witch at the home of Manchester United.
Play Dirty FC came out victorious, rousing to a 4-0 win, with a sensational performance from professional football player Callum Harriott who opened the scoring. Other highlights include a crunching tackle from Avelino, miss of the season contenders from Vuj and Youngs Teflon and a sublime through ball by Man of the Match Headie One.
After the game, everyone involved in the day retired to the Old Trafford hospitality suite to enjoy food and drink put on by Manchester United club partner Chivas Regal.
As winners, Play Dirty FC received £4,000 to help their charity; Reach Out Project London. An early intervention mentoring programme for young people living in the capital. Runners up, Hackney Wick FC All-Stars received £1,000 for their partners Grassroots for Good who aim to create positive environmental and social impact through football to improve communities across the country.
For the inaugural gameday, GAFFER designed the exclusive and original jerseys worn by both teams. GAFFER has sponsored Hackney Wick FC over the last 12 months and designed the club’s new home jersey seen on Jay1, Chunkz, Dave and more. The kit represents the power of humanity and the power of an individual dream and desire, as the elements of Hackney map symbolism ingrained in the kit celebrates the crossing of cultures and boundaries. The jerseys will be made available ahead of the team’s upcoming campaign.
